The county seat, Bradenton Florida is the largest city in Manatee County with 53,000 residents. Its charming downtown district is the hub of county government, industry and the arts. Originally known as the Village of Manatee, Bradenton was later named after Joseph Braden, whose entrepreneurship has made the area a center of agriculture featuring tomatoes, cut flowers, and for more than 100 years, the world's largest juice producer, Tropicana. Bradenton is the headquarters for Champs Sports, Beall’s Corporation and Wellcraft, and home of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ spring training camp.

Bradenton is a historical landing place boasting protected natural deep water anchorages along the west coast of Florida.
